For Immediate Release

We stand in solidarity, and we also have a responsibility to each other. Women, children and LGBTQIA+ people in this country are dying. They are grieving. They are furious. And because of that pain and suffering, they have come here to Constitution Hill in their thousands.
What you are seeing today is the 99% gathering. It is the truth made visible. It is exactly what We The 99% have been saying. The crises faced by women, by workers and by young people in this country are systemic, immediate and urgent. The turnout today reflects that reality.
Because of this overwhelming response, in solidarity with Women for Change, the WeThe99 programme at Constitution Hill reached full capacity. To ensure everyone’s safety, the decision taken is to stop programming for the day and allow for crowd dispersal outside of Constitution Hill.
This does not mean the movement stops. It means the crisis is bigger than any Summit can hold. It means the people are speaking louder than any official Summit. And it means our work together continues with even greater clarity and urgency.
Our Declaration with the conclusions of the People’s Summit will be shared. We are overwhelmed by support, by solidarity and by collective voices. We are the 99% louder than we have ever been before.
We’ll share further information shortly. Let’s keep each other safe and continue to organise around our struggles. We are the 99%. Solidarity always.
The We, The 99% Summit amplifies people-led solutions to inequality, debt, climate crisis, and corporate greed, showcasing creative resistance through music, storytelling, and mobilisation.
