The world is in a deep crisis, tearing apart economies, societies and the environment.

We need a new global movement to get us out of this crisis. A movement that builds power from the ground up — connecting local struggles, uniting movements, and advancing clear political alternatives.

In November 2025, as a counter to the G20 Leaders’ Summit which focuses entirely on the rich, we are planning a People’s Summit for global economic justice for the rest of the world’s population – the 99%.

Built around a “We, the 99%” manifesto, the People’s Summit will unite social movements and civil society in a global effort to reclaim democracy and change the future.

Understanding this moment

Today’s global economy is extractive and unstable, concentrating wealth while pushing most people into debt and hardship. As financial power crosses borders, democracy weakens, public goods become commodities, and citizens lose control over decisions affecting their lives.

The economy and democracy are inseparable: you can’t strengthen one without the other. To counter rising inequality, authoritarianism, and ecological collapse, we must revive democratic power and transform the economic system — together.

What is at stake

Next year, the US takes over the G20 presidency, and it is expected to push an agenda that continues to favour financial dominance over people, democracy, and the planet.

We therefore stand at a critical moment of global power shift — where old systems linger and new ones are emerging.

While new alliances and blocs offer hope, the risk remains that power will simply change hands without real justice. We have a chance to build a new international economic order centred on people and fairness. This requires global solidarity and sustained action — not in a single event, but in a long-term movement to reshape the future.

We are preparing for a People’s Summit for global economic justice to be held in November 2025, to kickstart this process.

The People’s Summit is an independent event that stands in stark contrast to the G20 in terms of its focus, its values and purpose. It will provide a platform for voices and perspectives that are overlooked, ignored and marginalised in the discussions held by the G20 leaders.
